Welcome
“Andrew is the kind of person you find very rarely, who is intelligent, loyal and very hard-working. He was always able to do the best work in a fraction of the time expected and did so with a smile. Andrew is not only fun to work with, he gives incredible results that make the whole team look good. I would hire Andrew in a heartbeat.”
– Katie Postma, Lead Community Manager at Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment (2006)I am Andrew Chernauskas, a software engineering student at Penn State Erie: The Behrend College. This web site is your guide to my projects, qualifications, and attributes. Please let me know if you'd like to know more.
Design Goals
I strive for clarity in design. My first goal is to present information in a functional manner. I then use CSS to apply a creative appearance to that functionality. By focusing on function first, my personal web site effectively conveys the information it presents with a limited amount of graphics while still having a unique design.
Recent Projects
For my university senior design project, I co-developed a software tool for the Mercyhurst College Institute for Intelligence Studies. The goal of our project is to help intelligence analysts to collect, visualize, and analyze their data. This improved data presentation will allow United States policymakers to make better informed decisions and addresses shortcomings in the Intelligence Industry outlined by Report to the President by the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States.
My most recent project, puzzle design for the Myst V: End of Ages web site, required a keen eye to detail and extensive skills in Adobe Photoshop. Because many of the visitors to the site would be loyal fans of the long-running series, each detail of the intricate web puzzles needed to be true to the original games. I used Adobe Photoshop to manipulate the assets from a CD-ROM form to a web-based format.
While administering the D’ni Explorers Guild web site, I worked with a team of 12 people. Each person specialized in a different task of design, coding, database programming, and content creation. I collaborated with each team member to seamlessly mesh each component into the site.
